Version 2026-09-26
Lonestar Softworks LLC operates Tx DPS Scout, an independent appointment-notification service. We are not affiliated with Texas DPS. Contact us at privacy@txdpsscout.com about privacy, security, or your data.
Adults and authorized applicants
Account holders and applicants must be at least 18. You may submit another adult’s information only with their authorization for this service. Tell them about this notice before submitting their details. If you believe someone submitted your information without permission, contact us.
What we collect and why
- Account information: your email, sign-in credentials managed by Amazon Cognito, verified notification address, and records of accepting our adult-use and applicant-authorization requirements. We use these to operate and protect your account.
- Live applicant details: first and last name, birth date, last four SSN digits, and a Texas DL/ID number when needed for the requested service. We use these to sign in to the DPS scheduling service and search for appointments. We do not request a full SSN.
- Search and notification information: scout labels, cities or ZIP codes, preferred offices, appointment type and dates, search status, matches, and email delivery records. These support your searches and notifications. Avoid putting personal details in scout labels.
- Security and service records: request identifiers, IP addresses in security logs, blocked-request metadata, and service counts. These help detect abuse and service failures. Application logs are designed to exclude applicant details, passwords, and request bodies.
Simulation creates fictional applicant details and does not request your birth date, SSN digits, or DL/ID number. Account information and search preferences are still processed, and sample appointment notifications may still be emailed to your verified address.
Where information goes
Amazon Web Services hosts the application, account directory, encrypted storage, and email delivery. During live searches, the DPS scheduling service receives the applicant details and account email needed for sign-in. Your selected notification address receives appointment information. Email providers may process the messages they deliver.
Additional service providers support live searches by processing technical request information, without receiving applicant identity fields. Outside services have their own privacy practices. Simulation does not contact DPS or these additional providers.
This application does not sell personal data, use advertising trackers, or share data for targeted advertising. We may disclose information when required by law or to address fraud or a security incident, subject to applicable law.
Protection and retention
Applicant details and saved DPS sessions are encrypted in storage. The service decrypts details as needed to perform authorized functions. Your ordinary scout view shows applicant names but hides birth dates, SSN digits, and DL/ID numbers. A data download after a recent sign-in includes your submitted applicant details. No service can guarantee absolute security.
- Scouts, including paused or matched scouts, expire 90 days after creation. Access and scanning stop at expiry; scheduled cleanup removes stored applicant details and related records. You can delete a scout earlier.
- Saved DPS sessions expire after 12 hours. Verification codes expire after 10 minutes; background cleanup removes expired pending email details. Email delivery records expire within 30 days of sending or, for unsent jobs, creation. Storage cleanup can lag expiration.
- Account and verified email settings remain until account deletion. Deletion closes account access immediately and queues removal of the account profile and application records, independently of scanning. Cleanup normally starts within five minutes and retries on failure.
- Configured security logs are retained for 14 days. Backups can contain earlier data within the configured 35-day recovery window. A limited deletion receipt containing account/scout identifiers and deletion times is retained for 90 days to prevent reuse and support recovery checks. Aggregate service counts can remain without applicant details.
Deleting information does not recall a request or email already in flight or erase copies held by message recipients or the DPS scheduling service. Requests already running may finish using temporary in-memory data. We use deletion records when restoring a backup so closed accounts are not reopened for processing.
Your choices and requests
In your account, you can pause or delete scouts, change and verify the notification email, download submitted data after a recent sign-in, and request account deletion. To correct applicant identity details, delete the scout and create a replacement. Your account sign-in email is fixed; contact us if you need help.
You or an authorized representative may email privacy@txdpsscout.com to request access, correction, deletion, a portable copy, or information about our processing, including information submitted by another account holder. We will verify identity and any representative’s authority using only what is reasonably necessary. Do not email passwords, SSN digits, or identity documents.
We aim to respond within 45 days and will explain any permitted extension or denial. To appeal a decision, reply to the decision or email the same address with “Privacy appeal” in the subject. We aim to respond to appeals within 60 days. You may also contact the Texas Attorney General. Applicable rights depend on your location and the law; exercising them will not result in unlawful discrimination.
